For years, buying preloved and used items in Pakistan meant navigating flea markets, where unsanitized goods from all over the world were sold with no real information about their hygiene or history. Only a certain social class frequented these markets, since everyone wanted to dress well and knew that branded footwear and apparel could be found there. Still, many stayed away because of the environment and the judgment that came with shopping there.
Then came Facebook Marketplace and Instagram pages, where people began buying and selling preloved footwear and clothing directly with each other. This opened things up, but it came with its own problems. There was no way to authenticate whether a product was original, and no way to know its actual condition. Khazanay changed that entire experience. When we launched our online store, the response was incredible, and it gave us the confidence to open physical warehouses in Islamabad and Karachi. We took a real leap of faith when we opened our third warehouse in Pakistan, right in the heart of Punjab, Lahore. We launched our MEGA warehouse outlet in Lahore’s Askari 11, establishing one of South Asia’s largest physical thrift retail destinations. And when we say largest, we mean it, both in terms of the area it covers and the sheer range of options. A Launch to Remember
Even though this was our biggest thrift store yet, we made sure the experience felt like any major brand launching in a big city in Pakistan. We wanted people to walk in and feel like they were shopping for branded new clothes and shoes, not secondhand. We set up a photo booth so people could take fun pictures with friends and family while they shopped. We had a DJ keeping the energy up, because that’s what Khazanay, an Urdu word that means treasure, is all about. We wanted everyone there to feel the vibe, enjoy the music, and be in the right mood to shop confidently and find the best pieces for themselves.
The launch ran for three days straight, and the response was overwhelming. The number of people who came through our doors and swept up our racks during those three days was intense. We posted highlights from the Lahore launch on our page, where you can see people’s carts loaded with amazing footwear and branded clothing finds. We actually sold out completely by the last day and had to close the store for a day just to restock, so we could get back on our feet and keep serving you the best of what’s on our racks and hangers.
A Thrift Fashion Show Like No Other
The highlight of the store launch was Pakistan's first-ever thrift fashion show ramp walk, curated by Mamoon Tariq, a renowned creative director and fashion stylist known for his work in editorial shoots and runway shows. Every model brought something unique to the ramp, offering fresh styling ideas for millennials, Gen Z, and anyone who wants to look sharp in pre-loved, thrifted clothing. Each piece on display followed current fashion trends while staying effortlessly chic.
